We are coming to an important milestone in B.C.'s acceptance of solar. After 2 yrs of engagement and consultation with the Community Solar Coalition (CSC) (of which we are a member), BC Hydro has filed its plans to kill Net Metering and replace it with a measly $0.10 kWh price (locked in for 5 years - while our rates continue to climb). BC Hydro is also trying to restrict what the B.C. Utility Commission (BC Hydro's boss) considers at the rate hearings; the very things that makes solar feasible.
For those who already have solar PV systems, your access to their Net Metering will likely be 'grandfathered' in for 20 years (depends on what the BC Utility commission rules).
In the meantime, the BC Green Party negotiated with the ruling NDP for a full public review of Clean BC - our climate plan. The Green Party has asked CSC to write to Energy & Climate Minister Adrian Dix to ask him to delay the Net Metering rate hearing till the Clean BC review is completed later this year or early next year.
Here's how you, our valuable members, can get involved! Communicate to the Greens that you support a public review of BC's Clean BC plan -and that it needs to take place before BC Hydro damages Net Metering. It's time for us to be the squeaky wheel!
Please call your MLA to let them know that the Net Metering rate review must be paused to allow the Clean BC climate plan review! Help us save and expand Net Metering by also contacting B.C.'s two Green Party MLA's!

MLA Jeremy Valeriote Sea to Sky and BC Green interim Party leader

Also call your MLA to let them know you want them to fight for a public hearing on Net Metering through the Clean BC Review!
Thank you!
